Our Rhinophen product range consists of closed cell phenolic foam blocks, focusing on achieving the highest possible thermal insulation value at minimum thickness. We offer this product range in a wide range of densities and specifications. Whilst the main application is targeted the conversion for pipe insulation, we target the fire protection applications. Rhinophen is manufactured in the Netherlands and is fine-tuned utilizing decades of experience in the production of phenolic foam.
Rhinophen is manufactured as a block type insulation with a typical size of 2500x1000x800 mm (100x40x32 inch) and is available in densities ranging from 40 kg/m3 to 160 kg/m3 (2.5 to 10 PCF). Where Rhinophen 40 kg/m3(2.5 PCF) material excels in thermal insulation value, high density material is delivers the highest mechanical strength. In comparison to traditional insulation materials the insulation thickness can be reduced and/or energy savings realized. Reduced insulation thickness can provide the opportunity to optimize insulation even in confined spaces.
The high thermal efficiency is achieved by the fine pore size and closed cell structure. As a result Rhinophen is one of the most thermally efficient insulation materials. It retains its thermal performance under the most severe operating conditions by virtue of its closed cell structure and minimum moisture absorption.
SoliBlanket CR-grade is one of our Special Grade RCF products and provides the highest classification and continuous use temperature of all melt/spun fibers using Chromium Oxide and further microcrystalline processing during production. The SoliBlanket CR-grade has a classification temperature of 1480°C and is engineered to perform continuously in a wide range of applications up till 1350°C continuously.
SoliBlanket CR-grade is one of our most durable products and is unaffected by most chemicals and can be used in the most severe operating condition. It is most of the time the working solution for applications in the production of special grades stainless steel, where normal RCF fiber is not giving the expected life time expectation.
SoliBlanket HA-grade is exclusively developed on request of Vulcor to offer a 1370°C rated high temperature fiber blanket, without the use of zirconia. The high alumina content does not only improve the classification temperature, but also makes the fiber more stable in application with exposure to alkali. Testing at end customers in the USA has proven that the lifetime, compared to a RCF-Zr 1430 blanket in an application which was high in alkali, was nearly doubled.
Even though we strongly believe that the SoliBlanket™ X-grade is the preferred choice of a 1260 RCF blanket, we also offer our SoliBlanket™ HP-grade. The SoliBlanket HP-grade is one of our RCF Special Grade products and produced from a high purity blend of raw materials. Similar to other products in the SoliBlanket range, the SoliBlanket HP-grade is manufactured using the same Ultra Low Shot technology and greatly benefits with better properties and handling properties.
The low bio persistence grade of the SoliBlanket product range is labelled our ‘ULS’ grade. The SoliBlanket ULS-grade is the first Generation III manufactured, Ultra Low Shot, low bio persistence (LBP) high temperature insulating fiber blanket worldwide. The SoliBlanket ULS-grade has a classification temperature of 1200°C and is engineered to perform continuously in a wide range of applications up till 1050°C continuously.
ULS stands for Ultra Low Shot and Soliblanket ULS is a true Generation III product that enhances great benefits over Generation I and Generation II low bio persistence fiber blankets, with improved thermal conductivity and mechanical strength as result of the high fiber index.
The Standard Grade RCF range SoliBlanket consists of 2 types of Refractory Ceramic Fiber blankets for the temperature range of 1260°C to 1430°C : the X-grade and the ZR-grade. The SoliBlanket X-grade is our standard RCF blanket, has a classification temperature of 1260°C, and is recommended for use in temperatures up till 1150°C continuously.
SoliBlanket X-grade is setting a new standard for a classic RCF blanket. Manufactured using the latest spinning technology it is delivering a better performance than a traditional refractory ceramic fiber blankets.
The Standard Grade RCF range SoliBlanket consists of 2 types of Refractory Ceramic Fiber blankets for the temperature range of 1260°C to 1430°C : the X-grade and the ZR-grade. The SoliBlanket ZR-grade is our standard RCF-Zr blanket which has a classification temperature of 1430°C and is recommended for use in temperatures up till 1300°C continuously.

SoliBoard HS X-Grade is the High Strength version of our general purpose 1260°C rated refractory ceramic fiber (RCF) board. SoliBoard HS X-grade is manufactured from a our SoliBulk X-grade with selected inorganic and organic fillers to deliver high strength and performance in refractory linings. Compared to our standard boards the SoliBoard HS X-grade is typically 2x stronger than the standard SoliBoard X-grade. SoliBoard HS X-grade is performing in applications where standard boards do not deliver enough compressive strength, fail on modulus of rupture or are to weak for detailed machining. SoliBoard HS X-grade is extremly suitable for further CNC machining to the finest level of detail.
SoliBoard HS ZR-Grade

SoliBoard HS ZR-Grade is the High Strength version of our our highest temperature performing RCF board, the SoliBoard ZR-grade. SoliBoard HS ZR-grade is manufactured from a our SoliBulk ZR-grade with selected inorganic and organic fillers to deliver high strength and performance in refractory linings. Compared to our standard boards the SoliBoard HS ZR-grade is typically 2x stronger than the standard SoliBoard ZR-grade.
SoliBoard HS ZR-grade is performing in applications where standard boards do not deliver enough compressive strength, fail on modulus of rupture or are to weak for detailed machining. SoliBoard HS ZR-grade is extremly suitable for further CNC machining to the finest level of detail.
SoliBoard HT-Grade is developed by our team of engineers to offer you a 1400°C rated refractory ceramic fiber (RCF) board, but using standard Alumina-Silica fibers. SoliBoard HT-grade is based on our SoliBulk HA-grade and used in a unique composition which is boosting the classification temperture of our SoliBoard HT-grade to 1400°C without the use of zirconia. SoliBoard HT-grade is manufactured with selected inorganic and organic fillers to deliver high strength and performance in refractory linings and secures minimum shrinkage to temperatures close to classification temperature.
Vulcor is proud to introduce our SoliBoard NXT-grade, our first 1300°C rated low bio persistence (LBP) fiber based board. SoliBoard NXT-grade is manufactured from a our low bio persistence bulk fiber with selected inorganic and organic fillers to deliver high strength and performance in refractory linings. SoliBoard can be used for a wide range of application in refractory linings or condensing boilers.
We manufacture the SoliBoard product range on our continuous board line, with state of the art drying techniques. This drying process is much more sustainable, leading to 50 % energy saving compared to conventional drying techniques and allows us to dry the product to the core to a thickness of 100 mm. As it is manufactured on our continuous board line, which spans over 200 m (600 ft), our product are much more controlled and consistent compared to batch manufactured vacuum forming process boards. As a result we can offer you a uniform, lightweight, low shot and stable board at high consistency, quality and performance.
All products in the SoliWool ULS fibers product range, like the SoliBoard NXT, meet the requirements specified under NOTE Q of European Regulation 1272/2008. All SoliBoard NXT products are therefore exonerated from labelling requirements in Europe.
The SoliBoard NXT-grade is our boosted, low bio persistence, 1300°C rated general purpose board and engineered to perform in a wide range of applications up to 1150°C continuously. The SoliBoard standard product range consists of 3 types of standard refractory ceramic fiber (RCF) boards, and an extensive range of low bio persistence (LBP) boards. We also deliver a Special Grade Boards range for High Strength or, when based on PCW fiber, boards for the most demanding applications.
SoliBoard PCW INO-Grade
SoliBoard™ PCW INO-Grade
SoliBoard PCW INO-grade, with a classification temperature of 1600°C, is the top end of our SoliBoard product range. We manufacture our SoliBoard PCW INO from a mixture of poly crystalline fibers and a small percentage of our own developed and heat treated SoliWool HA fiber. The result of our development is a product which is showing less than 1% shrinkage, even tested for 24 hours at 1600°C.
As the SoliBoard PCW INO-grade is manufactured using special inorganic fillers there is hardly any fumes or loss of strength at first firing. It also means that at first firing there is nearly any loss of ‘green strength’ which is important in vacuum furnaces like in the semi conductor market. SoliBoard PCW INO-grade is very resistant to a wide range of polutions which make this an extremely durable and high performing board in a wide range of demanding refractory applications.
